I ask myself why I have become totally bored with modern day movies...because most of them are dreadful.
It was only when the end credits started to roll that I realised this was a Sofia Coppola movie. Crazy! Taking a slight diversion for a moment I would like to say that Bill Nighy and Bill Murray in many ways are one and the same- they play themselves very well. Very enjoyable series with lots and lots of snow as Moscow sees the beginning of an epidemic which kills within for days of catching kit. More Covid 19 I'm afraid. Like The Walking Dead but with much better characters, better scenarios and better acting and minus all the Hollywood shit. Most enjoyable Russian style.
Good edge of the seat space entertainment. Well acted and the effects were excellent. All been done before in one way or another but my attention was held firm for the duration. From the space suits to the Mars base camp interior to the scenery and the special effects, i would give full marks. It would probably only get lower marks from others due to treading old ground. A very worthy watch.
Gareth Edwards was quoted as saying that he wanted Rogue One to be like the original Star Wars movies and to bring back those childhood memories. Rian Johnson said exactly the same about The Last Jedi and failed. Where Rogue One felt more like the originals than any of the later Star Wars movies, The Last Jedi feels more Disney and more American than ever.
